（和文概要）

2004年スマトラ地震、2008年四川大地震、2011年東北地方太平洋沖地震（東日本大震災）といった巨大地震災害の国際比較研究、災害復興後の地域開発と災害リスク軽減の統合的研究、地域社会の脆弱性評価に基づくボトムアップ型コミュニティ防災・減災に関する文理連携研究などをおこなってきました。とりわけ1944年東南海地震や1959年伊勢湾台風などの大災害を経験し、近い将来に南海トラフ地震が想定される東海地域では、地元地域社会と連携しながら、社会の変化とコミュニティベースのリスクガバナンスの問題に取り組んでいます。

（英文概要）

Professor Takahashi is addressing some key issues on disaster and society in collaboration with the physical and social scientists within Nagoya University and some with the community-based organizations (CBOs) within/outside Japan. The main research topics include changing post-disaster societies after the mega-earthquake disasters including the 2004 Sumatra, the 2008 Sichuan, and the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake disasters, and vulnerability assessment and the community-based disaster risk governance reduction in developed and developing countries.
